A Raucous 4th
I went to my Aunt’s cabin for the 4th of July. My Aunt, cousin A, her husband, and a few of the grandkids were there.
And of course with the music, you had to have some dancing.

I was outside this morning for shoveling session number three. It was only about 8 degrees, with a real feel of around 2 below, but it seemed gorgeous out. There was no wind and the sun was shining. Quite a difference from yesterday. Plus, a funny thing happens to people who live somewhere that the…
I am reading The Gift of Years: Growing Older Gracefully by Joan Chittister, a book about “becoming” after retirement. Much of what I’ve read so far is about the freedom that comes from being outside the corporate world, where image matters so much. But I’m still in that world…
“Ye, ye, yeah.” I’ve been in eight hour meetings for the past two days with fellow employees from France and Belgium and they say a lot of that. Plus “No, no, no.” One yes or no is not enough. Really, I’m not making fun of them. How could I? Considering they each speak about five…
I cannot know what this time, this circumstance, a loss, a gain is going to mean to the entirety of my life. Why do I waste so much time resisting my circumstances instead of looking with eyes that see neither negative or positive but just go ahead and live each moment as though it is…
My brain is so full that it’s hard to sort through it all and write a blog post. Usually, around the first of the year, I take some time to reflect on the previous year and ponder what I might want to do differently in the future. It’s not so much a time of making…
It’s 7:30 and I’d like to just pop some Ibuprofen and go to bed. It’s been a day. Started out pretty light. Java and I drove to the Rum River park. Java loves her Mini compartment. Usually, Java and I walk at a pretty brisk pace as I’m trying to loosen up after a day…

Amazing! A boat parade…looks like a wonderful time. Your pictures turned out great.
Wow, the boats are really something…looks like good times!!!
Those are some seriously cool boats! That looks like so much fun. The water balloon fight sounds like a blast! We would do that when we go river rafting. Sure helps to cool down on a hot day!
Glad the horses made it through ok! Mine get pretty freaked out. But we stay home to keep an eye on them.
I grew up on a lake and loved it, but the boat parades were not that unique! Looks like a fun place.
OMG– I’m so jealous! That’s the most awesome 4th EVER! (Giving me ideas for the floatilla next year!)
The boats were a lot of fun this year. It seemed like the water fights were a lot more ingenious this year.
Sue – I’m wondering if your planning on using some of the boat decor or incorporating the water cannons into the floatilla. It’s a good way to cool off. Unfortunately, the paper mache fish hats and hollywood glamorama would not hold up so different costumes would be in order.
