Winter Evening Activities
Okay, I admit it, I’m not the best of dog trainers. You never see the professionals giggling. Sorry. I can’t help it.
I’m trying to deal with Java’s boredom during the dark days of winter by teaching her a few new tricks. The first one is spin, which she has down a little too well and seems to do all the time, before I even say anything.
Playing dead is her newest trick. I’ve been told I make gun sound effects like a girl. Excuse me? I think I sound just like a pump-action shot gun. Okay. Maybe not. Maybe that’s why Java is confused.
And you’ll notice that when she gets confused, she gets somewhat over excited.
Regardless, she entertains me.
I’m also trying to get more comfortable with the video camera. I probably should have had it on a tripod. I’m just happy I figured out how to turn it on and most impressive, get it to connect and download to my Mac. This is the first time I’ve tried to add titles.
It’s a growth experience for both Java and I.
Am I impressed or what?
I have a Mac too and don’t have a clue as to how you put text on the videos. How did you figure that out? Sue at DVR does text and music! I guess I’m a slow learner.
I just got my Mac! I have not tried a video edit yet. Java is such a cute girl and very smart. I think you have excellent dog training skills!

What a smart and sweet girl! I think that you’re underestimating your training powers. For me, giggling makes K so happy that it’s definitely not a detriment to training!
OMG- she is so smart! she could be a movie dog i bet- so eager to please! And good job on the vid- they can be a bear to figure out– fun when you get it though huh?
Java is doing great!! Loved the video! The evening are long and dark and cold ..for everyone! 🙂
Lori – The toughest thing with the Mac was getting it to see the camera. I had to buy and download software to get that to happen. Then I user iMovie to edit. Learning as I go.
Jill – I think Java is just an exceptionally smart dog that has learned how to understand me.

Sue – At first I thought you were talking about me – smart and eager to please… The video’s are fun. There’s a bunch of stuff I want to do that I haven’t figure out yet (like slow motion).
Far Side – At least it’s supposed to warm up next week. Yeah!
God that’s So funny. She’s such a smarty…I just got to sit down and see it today. She seems to learn pretty fast!
