A Kid at Heart
The mushrooms come from Back to the Roots and are a fun and worthwhile project for all ages. Yummy too!

Sunday afternoon, I went to a two hour class on keeping chickens. The class was put on by Bob Lies, who, along with his wife, has kept chickens in his St. Paul backyard for four years. The class was held at Egg Plant Urban Farm Supply, a wonderful source of everything garden and chicken, located…
I know this is long, but if you are a writer or woman of a certain age, it is so worth reading (I can say that because I’m just the messenger, not the brains of the message). I spent the weekend at a writing conference for writers over fifty at Open Book in Minneapolis. I…
Creating my birthday collage last week meant going through about six big boxes of photos, greeting cards, and other memorabilia that I hadn’t opened since I moved to my house three years ago, The boxes contained both my things and the memory boxes I had taken from my mom’s house. My mom saved EVERYTHING! All…
Remember how aging used to be something you looked forward to? How when someone asked you how old you were, you proudly held up your fingers and were so excited when it was your birthday and one more finger raised the flag? At age five, you started school. At twelve, you were practically an adult….
Last Friday I moved Luke out of his familiar home of the past five years to a new stable. Then Sunday, Steve and I did our first mini-bike tour — riding 56 miles to Carver Park reserve where we camped overnight…

Got another plate??? It looks delicious!!!
I’ve often said, “I’m like Peter Pan and will never grow up!” I’ve always surrounded myself with children…teachin’, Sunday School, Kid’s Church and eight grands…I don’t have to grow up!!! Heeehehehe!!
I adore both the picture and the beautiful poem sweetie.
Have yourself a perfectly blessed day my ‘kid’ sister!!! :o)
I just ordered 2 mushroom boxes! One for us and one for our daughter. This is such a fun idea. Thanks!
I have never heard of such a thing! Very cool! Mother Earth Maery:-)
I HAVE to order these! Were they on 60 minutes? (what a great idea, glad they made a buddle…and from coffee grounds…who knew, they should put these guys in charge of world hunger )
They look beautiful too! Stunning enough to put anywhere.
(and I hope we never reach that point either) Great poem Maery!
Beautiful poem! I was at our local health food store looking at that exact mushroom kit two days ago. I think that I may have to go back and get one!
Oh my! I never knew mushrooms could look so beautiful…kind of like Calla Lilies!
We don’t have mushrooms here…just not enough humidity and moisture and way too much sunlight to grow them.
I’m not a huge fan of eating mushrooms…they taste like dirt to me. lol! But this would be a fun project to do with my kids. I bet my chickens would eat them afterwards.
Fun!
And I like your poem, too!
