“In a while, I will put on some boots
and step out like someone walking in water,
and the dog will porpoise through the drifts,
and I will shake a laden branch
sending a cold shower down on us both.”
I hope to have more time soon to write about some of the things I’m working on. But for now, the photos here are my attempt to play more with IPhone photography and the apps available that can add all kinds of crazy filter effects.
However, I find that my taste and style is somewhat plain. When I looked at the photos on my computer, I wanted to undo some things but found the photos to be too “edited” to go backwards. It’s more fun to do the funky stuff and go straight to Instagram, without passing by the BIG screen and cringing at the pixelation.
But here are a few photo examples from a walk with Java and Latte. It was the first time in years that I have let Java run loose in an open area. There was no one else out at the park and she wanted to run through the deep fluff so bad I had to let her do it!
Latte did not think this was fair at all! Yeah, well, stop ignoring recalls and you too can run free.
I actually couldn’t get my phone to capture the action shots and ended up with more of the sliding stop, bury your nose in the snow and snuffle shots.
And the rest shots
I even tried a moonshot with my phone, thinking that was surely a waste of time. This is what some kind of Hollywood effect did to my moonshot. Interesting…
And this is cabbage stir fry no stylin’
Cabbage stir fry trying to be artsy
So the jury is out yet on whether this is a pastime I want to pursue, but then that’s the wrong attitude anyway. This is fun, non-pursuit, just wing it, kind of stuff!
I need to loosen up and have a Java attitude. She never worries about if she might look silly.
Here’s a video from back in 2010 about what makes Java happy. As I said in the
2010 blog post this video appeared in, ignore my annoying commentary and rest assured that dog and horses running together happened exactly once and it’s right here.
Below are photos of more typical dog and horse encounters when we lived at the old homestead. The horses just never quite got the whole bowing invitation to come play…
Love seeing Java having fun in the snow. She has a big smile on her face. I am with you on overly processed photos. They are not my thing. I think that they are interesting sometimes, but a nice, technically correct photo is what I love. The photo of Java play bowing to Luke is wonderful and sweet.
It looks like you and the dogs had a fabulous time in the snow! I don’t have a smartphone or any camera phone so I’m totally out of this kind of photography but it looks like fun!
I love Java play bowing to the horse!
