Digging Down Deep

Trying to put some roots down, not in a place, but in being. Digging down deep, probing the earth, sinking my fingers in ’til I feel that sense of rightness, of solid ground.

I’m supposed to be straightening out my files right now. You can tell how well that’s going.

It was a shaky day today. I met with my realtor at 8 AM and put together another offer on a house. It won’t be presented until tomorrow so I’m waiting. Those people who know me well realize how calm I must be right now since I’m ever so patient and never worry about this sort of thing. Ha!

I had to make a decision on what to offer and ask for in a rush because I was expecting someone to come for a second look at Murphy at 10 AM.

They were supposed to be coming with a trailer and if he looked good with a second trial, they were going to take him with them. So I had called the boarding place for Luke yesterday and had set up to bring him there today in the afternoon so he wasn’t in the pasture alone.

Guess what? The prospective buyers thought it might rain so they didn’t show up, and didn’t even bother to call.

So I called the boarding place and cancelled bringing Luke there.

The buyers called back and wanted to come out in the afternoon but the trailer they usually borrow wasn’t available so they would need to come back a third time if they decided to buy Murphy.

They were asked if they could just come when they had a trailer. It’s not like I have tons of free time. Plus all this also has to be coordinated with my X’s schedule since Murphy is his horse.

They seemed to get ticked off over this, and I’m not sure whether they will call back.

So there were numerous tears shed this morning over believing Java and I were losing our backyard pony buddies and it was going to be so empty and weird around here for the next month. Plus, a rushed house offer that could have been better thought out with just 30 more minutes to spare.

So, all and all, a crazy-making day.

If I get the house, I’ll be living in town on about a quarter acre on a dead end street. At least it’s not far from where I live now so Java and I could still trek our usual parks.

There are woods behind the house, but then there are neighboring houses on two sides. I’d probably put up a privacy fence as I need to do some kind of fencing for Java anyway.

There are some nicely landscaped hostas and room for a garden. There’s a nice, big kitchen that opens up to the dining and living room. I love the open design! And one wall of the living room is a built in bookcase that reaches up to the top of the vaulted ceiling. I might even have to buy MORE books, ones with interesting covers. How cool is that?!

Anyway, we’ll see what happens with this one. Trying not to get my hopes up.

When I was camping, I did a couple drawings of Java and did one more today. They are nothing to brag about but a good sign that I’m coming back. The sketches and I will get stronger, clearer and bolder eventually.

Oops, it’s really the Baptism River. Good thing I’m not seeking perfection…

And Java smiles…

  1. Good luck with the house! Sorry to read that Murphy might be going…has to be pretty sad for you. I must say, you are moving right along. When do you have to be out of the house?

  2. It feels more like one step forward, ten steps back. I’m sad to see Murphy go but also hopeful that he’ll find someone to love him and give him the time and attention he deserves. Heck, I haven’t even ridden Luke for two weeks and it’s making me feel like a clock that’s been wound way too tight.

I have to be out of the house completely early morning July 23rd. Sounds like a lot of time but you have a farm, you know how much stuff there is.

  3. Sue – Only if they have cool covers. I actually have tubs of children’s books and the like with plans for making art books out of them. Like that’s going to happen…
