Sue’s One Woman Show
“Just because you’re miserable doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy life.”
I saw that quote on a greeting card at the Seasons Gallery in Hudson, Wisconsin. It’s perfectly true. And I certainly enjoyed myself yesterday evening.
My friend Lynn and I drove to the Seasons Gallery to see our friend Sue’s one woman show called “Meddling with Metal“. I’ve talked about and shown Sue’s work before. She has welded a metal sculpture of a horse that I covet.
She also has welded several sculptures of women — some look like strong warriors or goddesses. This one sold as I was standing for a photo by it.
Sue does some unique tables too. I really like this round table with the wrapped stones in it. I’ll be losing a coffee table and two end tables soon, so… maybe…
I love the colors that Sue is able to coax out of the metal.
And the natural materials, the stones and driftwood, that she works into the pieces.
This candle holder was already sold (in fact, many pieces were sold) by the time Lynn and I arrived. There’s something eerily, mysteriously beautiful about Sue’s trees.
This is actually a small portion of a huge canopy that can go over a king size bed. You can catch another view of the canopy on Sue’s art blog.
Both Sue and Lynn are talented writers and artists. And I am ever so honored to be joining up with them to do the NANOWRIMO challenge in November. I hope we all survive and are still speaking to each other when December rolls around.
After oohing and aahing over Sue’s art, discussing which pieces we would like to buy, and enjoying a very nice glass of Pinot Noir, Lynn and I went to San Pedro’s in Hudson for dinner.
We had a Virgin Gorda pizza, which had roasted vegetables, sauteed spinach, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, smoked corn, and goat cheese on it. It was wonderful! And I so wish I had a photo of how luscious it was, but by the time Lynn and I thought about taking a photo, we had pretty much decimated the thing.
But Lynn did take a photo of this unearthly, delicious chocolate cake. There was a lot of moaning going on while we forked this chocolate heaven into our mouths. Do I look happy or what?

You look great! I love your friend’s sculpture and that pizza sounds splendiferous! As for the chocolate cake….who wouldn’t want a piece.
Keep doing things outside of work!
We may have to do that again really soon, loads of fun!
Thanks for coming and for saying all this nice stuff about my art! It was great seeing you. You know, every time I do see you, I’m blown away by your beauty and the light that just radiates from your face. I know it;s been rough, but you do carry the light hon. You’ll be okay when this is all long over.
Great sculptures a lot of talented creativity goin’ on there. The pizza sounds yummy but I’m afraid this chick would head straight for the chocolate cake!

I’m glad you liked Sue’s artwork. I can’t wait until she’s famous and I can say I knew her when.

She does beautiful work..I love trees in any way shape and form..almost as much as flowers! Fantastic evening out for you..!! 🙂
